My primary teacher training has been founded in Anusara yoga. I am an Anusara-Inspired (tm) instructor. Currently, I teach Hatha and Vinyasa Flow classes. I have taught in a variety of settings from private one-on-one sessions, to groups of nearly 100 people outdoors at Kitsalano Beach for Lululemon, on the Downtown Eastside at the Carnegie Centre, and at Yyoga in Yaletown. I have studied closely with Anusara-Certified instructors Chris Chavez as well as John Friend, Noah Maze, Darren Rhodes, and a number of wonderful Anusara-Inspired instructors in Vancouver.
When I practice, my biggest struggle continues to be remaining still. I naturally have a lot of energy and that is reflected in my classes as they typically involvement quite a bit of movement and asana expansion. That said, I’m working conscientiously on stillness and meditation to instill the discipline it takes to remain still with one’s thoughts on a daily basis.
Ultimately when I instruct, I attempt to create a harmonious blend of my innate energy with the mentally stabilizing aspects of breathe-work (Pranayama) and meditation. I am always open to crafting a class specifically to an aspect of your yoga practice you’re looking to expand whether its arm-balances, philosophy, or just grounding.
